Powertrain

Proven Cummins® power has been a jobsite regular for years because it's durable, efficient, quiet and clean. It's the only diesel that meets more stringent Air Resource Board (ARB) state emission standards, thanks to a new diesel exhaust fluid system. This means Chassis Cabs can idle indefinitely at a jobsite so you can use their HVAC and electrical features. The competition can't say the same.

6.7-liter Cummins® Turbo Diesel engine highlights:

  • 305 horsepower at 2,900 rpm
  • 610 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm
  • Largest available turbo diesel engine in its class [1]
  • Best-in-class 5-year / 100,000-mile limited engine warranty [2]
  • B20 biodiesel package available to fleet customers

The legendary 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 engine is standard on 3500 models.

  • Variable valve timing increases fuel economy and performance
  • 383 horsepower at 5,600 rpm
  • 400 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm

Transmission choices:

  • AISIN® six-speed automatic, with PTO capability and new Electronic Range Select (6.7L Cummins®)
  • Six-speed manual with PTO capability (6.7L Cummins®)
  • Five-speed automatic (5.7L HEMI®)

The six-speed manual offered in 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cabs has a lower first gear ratio than Ford or GM conventional chassis cab models [3].

Conveniences

Ram Chassis Cabs feature a number of driver conveniences inside and out that make your job a little easier. For example, the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) keeps track of your truck's vital stats. It displays average fuel economy, Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) warnings, trailer brake control stats (if equipped), outside temperature and more.

Other convenient features include:

  • Available Uconnect? system [1] featuring navigation with traffic alerts
  • Available keyless entry key fob
  • Available remote starter [2]
  • Available heated, ventilated front seats with driver and passenger power lumbar
  • Available heated rear seats with leather front seats
  • Available heated steering wheel
